National KPA Teachers' Workshop - Cameron

A glimpse of the workshop.....

I participated a four-day-three night workshop on Climate Change at Cameron Highland last July. 120 KPA teachers from all over Malaysia gathered at Tanah Rata to learn & get a better understanding on the recent hottest topic - Climate Change. It was a delighted experience to meet speakers who are concerned and actively involved in activities on issue regarding the environment. They are Mr.
Gurmit Singh ,the chairman of the Centre for Environment, Technology and Development in Malaysia; Dr Azhar Hussin, an Associate Professor in the Dept of Geology in UM who has done a research on Antarctic; Mr.Chow Kok Kee from the Malaysian Meteorological Service Dept. ; Dr. Liau Tai Leong a medical practitioner in Brinchang who is the vice President of R.E.A.C.H and En. Rozaili Razak from ExxonMobil. The talks were informative & after listening to them one could feel the seriousness of this topic and the urgency to share the info especially to our students.

Dato’ Dr Hashim Abdul Wahab, the Chairman of MNS’ Environmental Education Advisory Committee in his closing note said that environmental challenges we face today are becoming critical. As a result there is an urgent need for continuous effort to not only create awareness but also enhance efforts, particularly amongst the younger generation, to do their part in whatever way they can to protect the natural environment. Hence at the closing ceremony a guidebook entitled Nature by Heart – Fundamentals for Environmental Educators, is launched. This book particularly useful and relevant as a source of information for the teachers, in carrying out environmental education programmes in schools. So, it’s said that this well-illustrated book should not be missed by anyone, especially those in the education fraternity.Just click http://www.mns.org.my/books.php?aid=79 if you’re interested to purchase this book.
